Your blackmail of Buhari is cheap, can’t stop battles against corruption in Nigeria, Canada group replies Obasanjo
*Warns ADC Nwosu to steer clear of this, withdraw threat to Aso Villa
*Says if Obasanjo is indicted, he will be picked up, nothing happen
Things may not have been rosy for former President Olusegun Obasanjo as, against his expectation that he would garner public sympathy over what has now been described by many including the government as false alarm of threat to his life by government of President Muhammadu Buhari, he has been hurled unstopping attacks and condemnations.
Among people or groups who have condemned the former President are the Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Dr. Osita Okechukwu, former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Commission Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay and the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who said the government of Buhari will not be distracted by any frivolous allegation.
The latest condemnation also of Obasanjo over the alarm has just come from the President of Battles Against Corruption in Nigeria Group, Mr. Waheed Seriki, who described the alarm by the former President cheap blackmail that would not stop the battles against corruption in the country.
Seriki, who speaks in a message he sent from the Canadian capital city of Ontario, said the government not be distracted by the Olusegon Obasanjo usual game of blackmailing the government that fails to dance to his music.
“Obasanjo’s attitude of lying, brainwashing and cajoling the citizens to listen to his command is no more relevant in Nigeria because Nigerians know him more than he knows himself and they are no more ready to listen to his lies and will no longer be fooled to fall victim of his manipulation.
“Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s strategy is always to lie against the sitting government to buy electorate support. This time it is not going to work. It was is an old strategy. We see no reason why Obasanjo will be afraid so that that he would lie that President Buhari is after his life. The present government under the leadership of Muhammadu Buhari is not after anybody.
“The present administration just wants to ensure they sanitize the country of corruption and ensure that whoever is responsible and contributory to inflicting hunger, poverty and starvation on the citizens of Nigeria will be brought to justice, no matter whom the person is.
“The present administration is now more determined than before to revive and revitalize the country and focus on ensuring they fulfill the mandate given to Muhammadu Buhari as the president of Nigeria to rebuild and transform Nigeria into modern state.
“Olusegun Obasanjo cannot use blackmail to win election for Africa Democratic Conference (ADC) in 2019. The electorates will assess all the contestants and the winner of the incoming election will be determined by their individual achievements in terms of his contribution to economic and infrastructural development of the country. Also, on their efforts to end the corruption which is the major cancer in Nigeria.
“I will strongly advice the chairman of ADC Chief Okey Nwosu to withdraw his warning of the government that, his party will shutdown the Presidential Villa if Obasanjo his harmed. No one is planning or has intention to harm Obasanjo. It is just that the guilty is always afraid.
“If Olusegun Obasanjo has any skeleton in his cupboard, he will be exposed and will be made to answer questions because the Battles Against Corruption in Nigeria group will not allow any corrupt Nigerian to be accorded unnecessary protection over his misdeeds.
“The Battles Against Corruption in Nigeria group is fully in support of Buhari’s government to continue the battles against the corruption that has destroyed millions of lives in Nigeria and has made many hopeless citizens.
“The group will resist any attempt to prevent or distract President Buhari and the Nigeria Police in their effort to fight and eradicate corruption in the country and bring criminals to justice.
“We will like to let Chief Nwosu know that if Obasanjo has a case to answer, he will definitely be called to answer for it and nothing will happen to Presidential Villa.
“There should be no more cover up for criminals in Nigeria. Any attempt by ADC to instigate the public against Buhari’s determination to fight corruption in the country will be counterproductive and Aso Villa will live beyond those intending to pull it down to cover their crime against innocent Nigerians and humanity.
“Millions of Nigerians are suffering and hopeless because of corruption in the society and the protection of powers behind the looters,” he said.
