The President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has stated that all vaccines that have passed through all stages of prequalification and clinical trials and approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO) are safe going by available medical reports by experts some of whom are Muslims.

The Sultan stated this at the interactive session between Muslim opinion leaders, scholars and Imams from across the country and officials of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), under the auspices of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) on Wednesday, in Abuja.

He added that a lot of advocacy still needs to be carried out by relevant agencies of government to dispel conspiracy theories being peddled out there especially on the virtual space.

He challenged Muslims leaders to study more about the vaccine and that any information they are passing to their followers should be data driven and backed be science.

The Muslim leader added that the Council will continue to engage the scientific community periodically until the current skepticism and fear expressed by many is totally assuaged.
