Course 14/2017: Buratai commends NACOL, reassures of military commitment to civil rule

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has described the Nigerian Army College of Logistics (NACOL) as the centre of excellence for the training of logisticians relevant and central to logistics in the successful execution of military operations in Nigeria.

General Buratai, who was represented by General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Peter John Dauke at the graduation ceremony of Logistics Staff Course 14/2017 of NACOL, said, “It is common knowledge that military operations are conducted on a tripod of strategy, tactics and logistics. It is difficult for the tripod to stand properly if any of the legs is missing as an important part of the tripod, a robust logistics plan is imperative for good strategy and sound tactics to succeed. This underscores the importance of Nigerian Army College of Logistics to the Nigerian Army,” he said.

Congratulating the 24 graduads all from the Army, the Army chief reassured Nigerian populace of the readiness of the Army to sustain security of lives all over the country even as he said something was being done to ensure that the current attacks by remnants of Boko Haram were put to permanent end.

Buratai promising loyalty to the commander-in-chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces of the country charged that “Commanders at all levels must ensure that their personnel are continually reminded of the need to uphold the tenets of military professionalism at all times by being guided by the provisions of the constitution.”

In his speech, Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics, Major General Richard Duru, thanked the Chief of Army Staff especially over his unflinching support for the college even as he reminded the graduands that they were expected to put to work the knowledge they were equipped with for the period of the training and be good ambassadors of the college in their various fields of work.

The ceremony also witnessed induction of officers including the college commandant, General Duru, into the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply.
