Catholic priest shot dead along Owerri-Onitsha road in Nigeria

The Catholic Priest of Nnewi Diocese, Anambra State, Rev. Fr Tobias Chukwujekwu Okonkwo, has been killed by unidentified gunmen.

A statement on Friday December 27, 2024, signed by Rv fr Rapheal Ezeogu, the Chancellor of the Diocese, said Fr Okonkwo was shot dead on Thursday December 26 along Owerri-Onitsha Expressway between the hours of 7pm and 8pm.

Until his death, Fr Okonkwo was a pharmacist and priest in charge of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala, in Anambra State.

Born August 11, 1984, the late clergyman is a native of Ekwulumili in Nnewi South Local Government.
