The DEFENDER had been around since July 27, 2002 as it operated as print media until it was rested on September 30, 2009. It only resumed in June of 2016 and moved straight into the global scene as online media “to deliver knowledge-driven, non-sensational journalism for the love of country, Nigeria”. This June 2016, The DEFENDER was rebranded with clear vision of “defending the truth and national integrity” through online journalism. It aims to be the most respected online media in Nigeria, on the African continent and in the world. It is achievable – we believe – and we will achieve it by the passion to make our country of location, Nigeria, Africa and the world places where peoples peacefully co-exist, have respect for individual religious and ethnic values of one another and without anyone suffering bias in our reportage.

EDITORIAL CONTENT AND VALUES
*We are independent minded and therefore free of partisan and sectional interests.
*We are impartial and so shall be fair-minded and even-handed to all sides.
*We are equipped with integrity and shall be honest and upright deploying that which we are equipped with in our practice of journalism.
*National interest first before individual interest: We believe nobody is bigger than Nigeria.
*There will be no placing one religion or ethnicity above any other religion or ethnicity in our reportage and shall, bearing that in mind, respect ethnic, religious and political diversities that exist in Nigeria for the love of country.
