OKUAMA: Okoloba records casualties in fresh violence, as Military pulls out of community

To the community people, the abrupt withdrawal of military presence has left the area on edge, although we were recently told that on the directive of the Delta State Governor, the Army high command agreed to withdraw troops to allow fled community people return.

 

The military has withdrawn its personnel from the crisis ridden Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

At the Bomadi end of the river side area, the Army troops head on fround was spotted by The DEFENDER he he was taking account of the personnel as they pulled out.

The soldiers’ departure came unexpectedly, leaving neighboring communities with shock.

According to Our Reporter, it was noticed that residents of Akugbene and Okoloba recounted the sudden pullout, attributing it to a signal from higher authorities.

In the wake of the withdrawal, Okuama returnees reportedly launched attacks on individuals from neighboring communities, leading to casualties.

Armed confrontations and machete assaults left victims critically injured with one person dead.

While confirming the incident, community members expressed concern over the escalating violence.

Mr. Clement Koki, Chairman of Okoloba community, emphasiaed the need for peace and called for divine intervention to safeguard the region.
