Update on the pick-up of former Senior Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Doyin Okupe, says he has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and has been apologised to by the anti-corruption agency.
Okupe’s comment corroborated The DEFENDER’s report of the DSS’ claim that the politician’s hold back from jetting out of the country via Virgin Atlantic at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Thursday morning, was at the instance of the EFCC and that it had since handed him over to the Commission.
Okupe, whose release was confirmed by himself via his Twitter handle, after release same day, said the EFCC apologised to him for the error.
He said, “I was arrested & and detained @ the MMIA, Lagos this morning, 12th Jan on my way to UK for medicals’ years after passport had been withheld by the FHC Abuja.
“I just left the EFCC office wehre Snr Officers in Lagos & Abuja appologised to me for the error.
“OCCUPATIONAL HAZZARD abi?” @doyinokupe asked in the tweet.
