Saudi Arabia gives Nigeria June deadline for Hajj 2017

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) said it has received June deadline to conclude all arrangement and logistics for this year’s hajj exercise.

Chairman of the Commission Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad said this Wednesday in Abuja while hosting the 500 level students of Hospitality and Tourism Department of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUAA) Ogun State who were on study tour of the commission.

Muhammad, represented by the Secretary of the commission Bello Muhammad Tambuwal, said the Saudi Arabia gave the commission till the end of the coming month of Ramadan to conclude the arrangements for the hajj exercise.

The month-long fasting in the lunar month of Ramadan which commences at the last week of May will end in last days of June.

“There are many processes involved including sensitisation of pilgrims most of whom are first timers, collection of monies which would be deposited to the Central Bank before it would pass through some other processes and finally to Saudi Arabia where it would be converted to Riyal (Saudi Arabia currency). Then accommodation, transportation and other processes would be concluded,” he said.
