A House of Representatives Candidate in Abia State under the plat form of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon Obinna Nwosu has stated that the 2023 general elections will witness the highest level of youth inclusion and involvement in politics in Nigeria since independence.

Obinna Nwosu stated in an interview in Abuja that such a development will redefine democracy and how the system of government will be practiced after the 2023 general elections as politicians will learn not to take the youths for granted thereafter especially as the youth make up about 75% of the voter population.

The youthful candidate said that the era when older politicians dominated the political turf has come to an end with the high number of youths in the race for different elective positions in the 2023 general elections.

He stressed that despite the overwhelming imbalance between the financial resources available to both the young and the older politicians, many younger contestants will come out victorious.

Obinna, who is contesting to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency of Abia State at the Green Chambers, expressed confidence in his ability to win the election while also declaring that the youths of the area were solidly behind him in the quest.

“ADC has solid structures and many of our supporters have been working hard to ensure victory for the party I the state. In Abia state, there is a growing clamour for positive change in the pattern of voting so that people can vote for individuals and not for political parties.

“So, we are preparing ourselves to be in a position where should people decide to vote for parties, our party will be there and if the decision is for individuals, our quality candidates will be there also. The ADC has fielded some of the best candidates for every available elective position for the 2023 election in Abia state.

“I am the youngest House of Representatives candidate in Abia State and I am confident that youths will support me as one of them to win the election knowing that unlike the older generation, I will not disappoint them when I get there. Already, I have been fortunate to get the support of the youth who have been the driving force behind my campaign. There is a clamour for youth inclusion globally and since I believe that the youth should always have a say, we have been working and carrying them along,” he said.

The aspirant appealed to the youths to collect their PVCs in good time to enable them cast their votes on Election Day, adding “My first message to the people especially youths is to let them know how essential it is for them to collect their  voter cards before the deadline. The reports we have been getting shows that there are millions of PVCs that were yet to be collected and I wish to remind them that your vote is your voice.

“So, I urge the people to pick-up their cards and get involved in the process of leadership selection by voting the right, credible candidates in the 2023 general elections.

“Everyone in the race is seeking to get into office but only the people that will decide who the lucky person will be. The people should do their homework well and pick a solid candidate. I am the most qualified candidate among the number of people seeking to represent my constituency at the National Assembly,” Nwosu concluded.
