Tinubu won with 8.6m votes, next Nigeria’s ADC president will win with 37m – Nwosun

Nwosu challenged skeptics to consider the mathematical implications of his projection. “So, how can you checkmate 37 to 40 million votes and outdo them?” he questioned, expressing confidence in the coalition’s electoral strength.
The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has made bold predictions about future electoral outcomes, claiming coalition of political figures and parties possibly using his party’s platform will secure significantly higher vote totals than those achieved in the 2023 presidential election.
Ralph Nwosu, who leads the ADC, expressed confidence about the electoral potential of the political alliance being formed, in an interview published by Punch Newspaper on Sunday.

The party chairman introduced his projection with a rhetorical question about popular power. “Do you know what is called ‘the people’s might?'” Nwosu asked, before outlining his party’s electoral expectations.
He made specific claims about minimum vote thresholds for future elections. “We have made it clear that the coming election will not be won by eight million votes, and that the minimum vote that Nigeria’s next president under ADC will have is 37.5 million votes,” the ADC chairman declared.
Nwosu challenged skeptics to consider the mathematical implications of his projection. “So, how can you checkmate 37 to 40 million votes and outdo them?” he questioned, expressing confidence in the coalition’s electoral strength.
The party leader drew comparisons with the 2023 presidential election results. “Tinubu won with about 8.6 million votes. But the president that will be declared under ADC won’t have anything less than 37 million votes,” Nwosu asserted.
He attributed his optimistic projections to current national sentiment. “And it is because the people are hungry and angry. They are now looking for people who believe in the country and have a clear roadmap and solutions with good experience,” the chairman explained.
He expressed his dismay that Tinubu, who was a chieftain of the National Democratic Coalition, is trying to blow off all other parties for the APC in a bid to make the country a one-party system.
“But it has become apparent that the party that was built based on integrity, uprightness, and inclusion is now out to play the role, and we are open. We have called every stakeholder, saying โif we are serious about lifting Nigeria from this current state, the ADC was built for that.โ It has a transformation DNA and takes the African view to everything,” Nwosun said.
The ADC leader’s predictions represent a significant departure from recent electoral patterns in Nigeria, where winning margins have typically been much smaller than the numbers he projected.
His comments come amidst ongoing discussions about the formation of a mega coalition involving various opposition figures and parties ahead of future electoral cycles.
