“We strongly suspect that the alleged statement is either a product of fake news or that the real statement had been deliberately distorted or that Miyetti Allah leader has been inadvertently misquoted. This is why a clarification is necessary at this point in time.”

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has rejected a statement credited to Miyetti Allah in which the group allegedly said that Fulani will rule forever.

It said: “We call on Miyetti Allah to confirm or deny the alleged statement. We affirm that Nigeria belongs to no particular tribe and every ethnic group has a stake in the Nigerian project. Leadership is therefore not the birthright of any ethnicity.

“We appeal to Nigerians to ignore the statement allegedly made by Miyetti Allah and to allow the group to make clarifications. We call on leaders to avoid divisive, explosive and provocative statements.

“We strongly suspect that the alleged statement is either a product of fake news or that the real statement had been deliberately distorted or that Miyetti Allah leader has been inadvertently misquoted. This is why a clarification is necessary at this point in time.

“MURIC will continue to stand for justice, fairness and equal rights no matter whose ox is gored. Stability, peace and prosperity in every part of Nigeria is the major concern of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC). Neither shall we favour one tribe over another.”

The DEFENDER reports that a certain group of intruders, which has no authority to speak or represent the Fulani race whether in Nigeria or anywhere, has been making statements in recent times and which reported in the media which expectedly should know who Fulani leaders in Nigeria are but choose to take such divisive statements from that unfortunate group.

Several times the Miyetti Allah of which member is Sultan of Sokoto had clarified these issues and made itself clear as an economic body in the tribe that Nigeria belongs to all and no such group now enjoying media patronage in the country has the rights to speak for the Fulani race.

The Miyetti Allah had always after such reports, which had usually caused crisis leading to loss of lives and destruction of properties in the past, exposed even media which ascribed such statements to its officially recognised leader or secretary general.

Per adventure this understanding led to the MURIC’s appeal in a statement Saturday urging Nigerians to ignore the latest statement allegedly made by Miyetti Allah and to allow the group to make clarifications.
