‘Large number of US forces killed’ as Iran launches wave of retaliatory strikes across Middle East — IRGC

“Decisive operations by the Iranian Armed Forces in response to the American terrorist enemy began minutes ago,” the Corps said, according to a statement Tuesday.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says Iranian forces have launched a sweeping wave of missile and drone strikes against United States military bases and interests across the Middle East, claiming that a “large number” of American personnel were killed.

The IRGC announced the retaliatory operations on Tuesday, saying the attacks were launched in response to what Tehran described as recent “American terrorist aggression” against targets inside Iran.

“Decisive operations by the Iranian Armed Forces in response to the American terrorist enemy began minutes ago,” the Corps said, according to a statement Tuesday.

It added that US bases and interests across the region were being targeted with Iranian missiles and drones.

Jordan bases targeted

According to the IRGC, Iranian forces carried out a heavy ballistic-missile strike against Camp Titiin, a US Marine facility in Jordan near the Gulf of Aqaba.

The Corps claimed the attack killed a large number of US personnel, destroyed several key facilities and damaged attack helicopters.

In a separate operation, the IRGC said another US base in Jordan, Prince Hassan Air Base, was hit by ballistic missiles.

It claimed the strike targeted hangars housing American RQ-4 and MQ-9 unmanned aircraft, destroying several drones and killing a number of pilots and technical crew members.

The IRGC also claimed that parts of the base’s technical infrastructure were set ablaze.

The allegations had not been independently verified at the time of reporting.

Iran cites civilian casualties

Tehran said the retaliation followed a series of US attacks on Iranian territory, including a reported strike in Sirik County, Hormozgan Province.

According to the IRGC, shrapnel struck a residential building in Kouhestak while a wedding ceremony was taking place.

The Corps claimed four people, including a child, were killed and about 50 others wounded.

Iran accused the United States of repeating attacks on civilian areas during what it described as the latest round of American-Israeli aggression against the country.

US positions in Iraq attacked

The IRGC further claimed that Iranian forces conducted combined missile and drone attacks against US positions in Erbil, in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.

It said the strikes destroyed a maintenance facility and warehouses containing military equipment, as well as the guidance system of a US surveillance balloon.

The Corps also claimed that Iranian ground forces set fire to fuel storage tanks and killed “a number” of US personnel.

Again, the claims could not immediately be independently confirmed.

Bahrain comes under drone attack

Iran’s Army separately announced the 29th phase of its Operation Sa’eqeh (Lightning), saying it had launched a large-scale drone assault against Sheikh Isa Airbase in Bahrain.

The Army said explosive-laden drones targeted radar installations and locations where US forces were gathered.

Iran described Sheikh Isa as a strategically important US military facility used for helicopter and drone maintenance as well as reconnaissance operations.

The Iranian military said the operation was a response to recent attacks and warned that further retaliation would follow.

Iran warns US

The IRGC also warned that continued American military action would further strengthen Tehran’s determination to restrict access through the Strait of Hormuz.

It said the latest attacks had reinforced Iran’s resolve to confront foreign military forces operating around the strategic waterway.

The Corps urged Jordan to prevent its territory from being used as a platform for attacks against Iran.

Iranian authorities also praised public support for the military, saying nationwide backing had strengthened the country’s resistance against the United States.

The latest claims come amid a sharp escalation between Tehran and Washington, with Iran threatening further strikes against American military assets in the region.
