Oke Ogun king, Sabiganna, receives Oyo CP, commends police over peace in domain

The Sabiganna of Iganna Kingdom and Chairman, Iwajowa Local Government Traditional Rulers Council in Oyo State, Oba Saliu Azeez Oyemonla, Agunloye 1V, has commended officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force over their exhibition of professionalism, competence, and dedication to policing, geared towards security of lives and properties across the nooks and crannies of Iwajowa Council area.

Oba Oyemonla made commendation while receiving the new Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebola Hamzat, who paid him a royal homage at his palace in Iganna during his familiarisation visit to Iganna Area Command on Wednesday.

The Oke Ogun king also seized the visit to call for deployment of more security agents to Iganna Area Command, in order to ensure that lives and properties of the citizens and other residents are safe and better guaranteed.

The monarch maintained that it had becomes imperative to appreciate the police because the foremost security agency, through its Oyo State Command, has done great job for the protection of Nigerians and their properties in the part of the country.

Oba Saliu Oyemonla noted, as the council area shares border with foreign countries namely Republic of Benin and the Republic of Niger, that the Commissioner of Police should not hesitate to mobilise more men to the area, sequel to constant influx of the strangers.

The monarch promised to work hand-in-hand with the police and also stick to mutual synergy on areas of intelligence gathering that would, no doubt, ensure that people sleep with their two eyes closed.

He however said that the 11 communities making Iwajowa LG are maintaining mutual and cordial relationship with the Fulanis, as all are living with one another mutually, but the recent  attack on them by unknown gunmen was so sad, unwelcome and disheartening.

The Royal Majesty called on Commissioner of Police to look critically and inward on how lives and  properties would be more secured at the council area.

He said that he and other monarchs in Iwajowa Local Government would not leave security the police aline, according to him, bye laws of council empowers them to take part in security and protection of their people thus curbing all criminal activities, especially among ‘stubborn youths’ in the communities.

The kabiyesi, on behalf of the traditional rulers council, appreciated the proactive efforts of Engr Oluseyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, during the crisis and promised to give Oyo State Command maximum cooperation on crimes control and prevention.

Earlier, CP Hamzat said he was at the palace to appreciate the Sabiganna over his unflinching support he noted has been rendered to security agencies and to also take royal blessing for his smooth running of engagements.

The Police Commissioner said as the monarch remains the head of policing in the town, he should not hesitate to give more support and firm collaboration that would make their efforts more effective and efficient.

Also, the CP and entourage were welcomed by Executive Chairman of Iwajowa Local Government, Hon. Abdul Jeleel Oyinloye, as the council boss prayed for their protection and guidance as they continue in securing lives and properties.

Joining in receiving the Commissioner of Police at the Sabiganna’s palace were the Bagijan of Ilaji-Ile, Onidiko of Idiko Ago  and Amunijio of Ijio.

Others were members of the Sabiganna-in-Council, Baales, representatives of youths, religious and community leaders, men and officers of police force, Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps and Amotekun unit officers.
