Brazilian Consul General visits Sarki Fulani of Lagos, seeks partnership on livestock, agriculture

Vieira said the visit was intended to strengthen cultural and economic ties while identifying opportunities for collaboration, particularly in livestock development and modern cattle-breeding techniques, including the possibility of using semen from cattle in Brazil for artificial insemination and mass production without necessarily having the animals physically present in Nigeria.
The Consul General of Brazil in Lagos, Mr. Ronaldo Vieira, has visited the Sarkin Fulani of Lagos and Chairman, Council of Fulani Chiefs, South-West Nigeria, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Mohammed Abubakar Bambado II, to explore areas of cooperation between Brazil and the Fulani community in Lagos.
Vieira said the visit was intended to strengthen cultural and economic ties while identifying opportunities for collaboration, particularly in livestock development and modern cattle-breeding techniques, including the possibility of using semen from cattle in Brazil for artificial insemination and mass production without necessarily having the animals physically present in Nigeria.
Responding to the welcome address by the traditional ruler, the Brazilian Consul General outlined several areas of potential partnership, including livestock development, agricultural models and techniques, economic diversification, cultural exchange and the promotion of a positive image of Nigeria.
He also identified cultural ethics, business development, collaboration with the palace on business and cultural diversity, as well as educational cooperation between Brazil and Nigeria as areas that could benefit from closer engagement.
The Consul General’s interest in livestock is particularly significant given Brazil’s extensive experience in modern cattle breeding and large-scale livestock production.
Earlier, the Sarkin Fulani of Lagos welcomed Vieira and his delegation to the palace, describing the visit as a gesture of friendship, mutual respect and goodwill between the peoples of Brazil and Nigeria.
The monarch said relations between nations could be strengthened not only through official diplomatic engagements but also through meaningful interactions among their peoples, cultures and traditional institutions.
He said traditional rulers had an important role to play in promoting peace, social harmony, cultural understanding and mutual respect.
According to him, the visit provided an opportunity to deepen people-to-people relations and promote greater appreciation of the cultural ties and shared values between the two countries.
The Sarkin Fulani assured the Consul General that the palace remained open to engagements founded on hospitality, respect and friendship.
He expressed hope that the visit would contribute to strengthening cordial relations between Brazil and Nigeria and foster greater cooperation among their peoples.
The monarch concluded his address with prayers for the peace and prosperity of both nations, saying:
«“May Almighty Allah bless Your Excellency, bless your distinguished delegation, bless the people of Brazil and Nigeria, and grant our nations continued peace, prosperity and goodwill.”»
He again welcomed Vieira to the palace with the traditional Fulani expression, “Jabbama,” and thanked him for the visit.
