They are however warning “seriously” that while the cure is embraced, the claim of an Africa-led WHO offering an African country $20 million to poison its drugs to kill its own African people should be dismissed with all the alacrity that it deserves. “It is purely a Western propaganda and games by the allied forces to discredit the World Health Organization in the eyes of the governments and people of the world,” some of the observers, warning and Africa, have said.

Barely four weeks after the United States of America’s administration of President Donald Trump vowed to fund Madagascar’s newly discovered coronavirus remedy, ‘COVID Organics’, with $2.5 million amidst its anti-World Health Organisation (WHO) fight and propaganda trying to discredit the United Nations health agency in the eyes of governments and people across Africa particularly Nigeria and other parts of the world, President of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina has claimed that the WHO, offered his country the sum of $20 million as bribe to poison COVID-19 cure, according Tanzania Perspective.

The President went on to insist that the herbal remedy called ‘COVID Organics’ made from Artemisia can cure COVID-19 patients within ten days.

The Tanzania Perspective newspaper cutting.

Also appearing on France 24 News, Rajoelina said that the only reason the rest of the world had refused to take the herbal cure seriously and with respect was that it came from Africa.

“I think the problem is that (the drink) comes from Africa and they can’t admit… that a country like Madagascar… has come up with this formula to save the world.

“If it wasn’t Madagascar, and if it was a European country that had actually discovered this remedy, would there be so much doubt? I don’t think so,” Rajoelina said.

“What is the problem with Covid-Organics, really? He asked. Wondering if it could be that this product comes from Africa,” he added.

The President also wondered if it was not alright for a country like Madagascar, which is the 63rd poorest country in the world, to have come up with something that can help save the world.

He noted that if it was not Madagascar, but an European country that had actually discovered the Covid organic, there would not be so much doubt.

The Madagasy President stated this even as some Tanzania Perspective also published a warning report with title, “Lockdown sounds mayhem as Western politics in Africa on COVID-19 war scares”.

The DEFENDER, in the meantime, reports that Madagascar, officially the Republic of Madagascar with capital Antananarivo, is a Francophone country freed by independence from French colony on 26 June 1960, three months before Nigeria’s independence from its own British colonial masters.  By 2018 population estimate it has 26,262,313 people resting on a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) economy of $45.948 billion going by 2019 estimate.

Those who are warning Nigeria against the ‘COVID Organic’ are pointing attention of the Nigeria’s government to some antecedents whereby France has been fingered in the prolonged Boko Haram terrorist activities in the North East using Chad being its ally on that axis of the Chad Basin region.  It is believed that France would never want development or true developmental independence for any black nation and so, that Nigeria or Africa in its entirety should not use the sentiment of ‘Africanism’ to play itself into the mischievous international politics led by United States of America’s President Donald Trump and which France is now keying into, to embrace a Madagascar’s propaganda that is meant to use one of the perceived best of Africa to set the continent against the World Health Organisation (WHO), which currently is incidentally headed by an African son and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.

While they agree with the Madagasy President on postulation that the only reason the rest of the world had refused to take his country’s herbal cure seriously and with respect was that it came from Africa, they are giving serious warning that US President Trump ad France’s connection with the cure makes its embracement subjective, thereby hailing President Muhammadu Buhari’s comment saying that his position remains unchanged from the need to subject the ‘COVID Organics’ to institutional checks in Nigeria before it is approved for the treatment of the disease.

Madagascar belongs to the group of least developed countries, according to the United Nations.  Malagasy and French are both official languages of the state. The majority of the population adheres to traditional beliefs, Christianity, or an amalgamation of both. Ecotourism and agriculture, paired with greater investments in education, health, and private enterprise, are key elements of Madagascar’s development strategy.

Under Ravalomanana, these investments produced substantial economic growth, but the benefits were not evenly spread throughout the population, producing tensions over the increasing cost of living and declining living standards among the poor and some segments of the middle class. As of 2017, the economy has been weakened by the 2009–2013 political crisis, and quality of life remains low for the majority of the Malagasy population.
