Kwankwaso can’t fly with Obi because Obi can never be accepted in places like Kano, Jigawa – Bature

“Kwankwaso has lost a lot of his support base in Kano after moving to bring Obi. He did that so that he can secure the support of some of the non-indigenes votes in the state.”
The spokesperson to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, Sanusi Bature, has alleged that former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s alliance with Mr. Peter Obi has weakened rather than strengthened his political standing in Kano.
Speaking on Arise TV, Bature claimed that the pairing stands no chance of making meaningful inroads in the core North, “Kwankwaso has lost a lot of his support base in Kano after moving to bring Obi. He did that so that he can secure the support of some of the non-indigenes votes in the state. But even at that, when you look at it, it might not amount to up to 25% of the total votes, because Kano is a conservative state.
“You cannot really override the thinking of a typical Kano man. Kwankwaso cannot fly anything with Obi because Obi can never be accepted in places like Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina. So therefore, I do not see that flying.”
Bature suggested that Kwankwaso’s real role in the arrangement may be less about winning and more about fracturing the opposition vote, scattering support across candidates to prevent any single challenger from consolidating enough votes to threaten the incumbent.
