Zamfara Chamber of Commerce expels Deputy President over alleged irregularities

By IBRAHIM KANOMA, Gusau

The Executive Council of the Zamfara State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ZACCIMA), alongside representatives of more than 30 traders’ associations in the state, has expelled the chamber’s Deputy President I, Chika Galadima, over alleged irregularities.

Galadima’s removal followed a unanimous resolution reached by members of the Executive Council and leaders of the various traders’ associations at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Falala Hotel, Gusau, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

The stakeholders accused Galadima of offences including allegedly delaying decision-making processes, hindering efforts to move the chamber forward and personalising the affairs of the organisation, among other allegations.

Following his removal, the council unanimously appointed the chamber’s Deputy President II, Alhaji Abubakar Kabir, to assume the position of Deputy President I.

Members of the council and representatives of the traders’ associations, in separate submissions, supported the decision to remove Galadima, citing what they described as his failure to provide effective leadership and steer the chamber in the right direction.

In his acceptance speech, Kabir thanked members of the council and representatives of traders’ associations for their confidence in him.

“I accept the nomination for the position of Deputy President I of the Chamber and agree to work with all stakeholders for the development of commercial activities in the state,” he said.

Kabir pledged to collaborate with the Zamfara State Government to promote trade and businesses as part of efforts to strengthen economic activities across the state.

He also commended members of the council, traders and business associations for their commitment to the development of the chamber, while appealing for continued support and cooperation from all stakeholders.

He further appealed to Governor Dauda Lawal to support the chamber in its efforts to revive economic activities across the state.

In separate remarks, representatives of the traders’ associations called on Governor Lawal to provide financial support, particularly through accessible loans, to enable traders to expand their businesses and boost commercial activities in Zamfara.

They urged the governor to consider approving loan schemes for traders, saying such intervention would help strengthen businesses and stimulate economic growth across the state.

Representatives of the Cattle Dealers Association, Motorcycle Sellers Association, Fish Sellers Association, Poultry Farmers Association, Dates Sellers Association, Block Moulders Association, Groundnut Sellers Association and Grains Dealers Association, among others, attended the stakeholders’ meeting.
