*Says faith-based rights activist presents Islam in true picture

Like the Baobab pushing elegantly seated in the thick forest, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, Registrar/Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), come to be counted as part of eminent figures that celebrate the Kinihun Adinni of the Ummah, Professor Ishaq Lakin Akintola, on his Retirement and Book Launch ceremony.

The DEFENDER reports that Professor Akintola’s book, “My Jihad: The Autobiography of an Islamic Eschatologist Cum Human Rights Activist”, was launched during the ceremony held in Combo Hall of Lagos State Television (LTV8), Ikeja, Lagos on Sunday July 9, 2023.

Professor Oloyede, who was unavoidably absent at the event, had in a paid advert rolled out the drums for his beloved Muslim brother and fellow “very deep, self-disciplined academician” and quintessential administrator of high repute.

In the goodwill message, Professor Oloyede, who is also the Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic (NSCIA), described Professor Akintola as a faith-based rights activist that has successfully presented Islam in its true picture of a peace making faith.

“Congratulating Professor Ishaq Akintola”, Oloyede said, “By your style of Islamic rights activism, you have changed the wrong notion about Islam as a religion with pool of violence.

“On your Retirement and Book Launch (July 9, 2023), it is an opportunity to celebrate you in your lifetime. Congratulations!” he said.

Professor Ishaq Akintola retired from service to the nation on Monday July 10, 2023 a day that coincided with his 70th birthday.

He was Head of Department of Religion, Lagos State University and, on path-time basis, Director of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) until he became fully installed as the Executive Director of the organisation as he now retired from active service into full-time activism through MURIC.
