HAJJ 2024: Ogun Muslim Council hails Gov Abiodun’s intervention over pilgrims BTA

The Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC) has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for the fund provided to augment shortfall in the Basic Travelling Allowance (BTA) for the state pilgrims, who are scheduled to perform 2024 Hajj exercise.

The Council made the commendation in a statement by its Secretary General, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde, Esq, dated May 23, 2024 and copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER on Thursday.

It described the governor’s action as a gesture that would enhance unhindered Hajj conduct and smooth performance of the rites by the pilgrims, noting that it would equally ease the affairs of the pilgrims while in the Holy land.

The Council described Governor Abiodun as a faith minded personality, who exhibited the Islamic principles of tolerance, care, friendliness and support for good things.

The Muslim body implored the him to sustain his kind heartedness and goodness to the people so as to enhance the realisation of the “Building Our Future Together”‘ Agenda of his government.
The statement enjoined the pilgrims to reciprocate the gesture by abiding with the Saudi laws and avoid any act that will tarnish their name, family or damage the country’s image.
The volatility of the foreign exchange rate has weakened the Naira currency, thereby causing a shortfall in the exchange rate used by National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in calculating the Hajj fare (inclusive of BTA) and that (rate) used by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Ogun State Muslim Council, of which Sectetary General is Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde, has the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebu Land, Oba Sikiru Adetona, as its President General.
