The Vice Chancellor of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, has reiterated that the university, which prides itself as Citadel of Academic and Moral Excellence, has students from all states of Nigeria, Federal Capital Territory and beyond.
According to him Crescent University has built its reputation in the last twenty years to achieve a wide acceptance from stakeholders, stressing that the university does not discriminate based on ethnicity, religion or race in its admissions.
Prof. Gbajabiamila made these revelations at the 20th Matriculation Ceremonies for the full time and part time fresh students from the Bola Ajibola College of Law, Colleges of Information and Communication Technology, Health Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences as well as Arts, Social and Management Sciences.
He congratulated the Proprietor/Chairman Board of Trustees, Prince Mahruf Adesegun Ajibola (SAN) and the entire management and staff on the recent approval of the institution’s multimillion naira CBT Centre for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) by the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB).
The freshers took the oath to “refrain from any criminal act or immorality, indiscipline, violence, and any other action calculated to disrupt the work of the university or likely to bring Islam and the university into disrepute”.
In his brief remarks, Prince Mahruf Adesegun Ajibola (SAN) counselled the newly matriculated studentship to strictly adhere to the oath taken as it was a sacred act of the university.
In a related development, the Chairman of Crescent University Parents’ Forum (CUPAF), Dr Toriola Coker, urged other parents to join hands with the university management to nurture the vision and mission of the founder.
He noted that four of his children had graduated from Crescent University while the fifth one was studying Nursing in the same institution.
He stressed that Crescent University Abeokuta is the best university in his own estimation.
Also present was the JAMB Registrar,Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, ably represented by JAMB’s Head of Matriculation and Monitoring, Mrs Kafayat Ibiwoye, former Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi, the Oloola of Ilara, HRH Oba Mutiu Alani Adedimeji Oyede-Lawal PhD, Registrar,Barr. Zakariya Ajibola (ably represented by H.B Ogunsola), University Librarian,Dr (Mrs) Mulikat Salaam, University Bursar, Alhaji Tirimisiyu Gbadebo Ogunmefun FCA, Emeritus Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun; Chairman, Ceremonials Committee,Dr Kola Adesina and all deans and directors of the university.
