Adequate reward for outstanding service delivery advocated, as NMDC director retires

The Director General and Chief Executive, National Metallurgical Development Centre, Jos, Engr. Prof Linus Okon Asuquo, has said there should be more reward for outstanding performance in public service as enshrined in Public Service Rule (PSR) 150102 and 150107.

Head, Press and Public Relations of the agency, sent to The DEFENDER.

Asuquo said this has become necessary because it will serve as remedy to unproductivity in the public service.

The DG came up with this advocation while addressing staff of his agency during the retirement get-together in honour of Engr. Manasah Mbayi, who retired as Assistant Director Metallurgy at the centre yesterday.

Prof. Asuquo, who was represented by his Technical Assistant, Engineer Yaskuma Usman, extolled the enviable virtues of Engr. Mbayi to include dedication to duty, trust- worthiness, sound intelligence quotient among others.

He said that the secret of the ongoing strides and repositioning of the research centre would not have been possible without the type of dedications and commitments being exhibited by his staff at the centre.

The helmsman of NMDC said now that Federal Government has realized the metal industry is indispensable to the advancement and turning around of the economy, the centre is poised to contribute its quota in moving the sector and by extension the country’s economy to a globally competitive height.

Engr. Mannasah Mbayi, the retiring officer, in his remarks, thanked the DG/CE for aknowledging hard work and commitment as the pivots on which successes revolve
He therefore, appealled to other MDAs to emulate NMDC in terms of harnessing potentials and service delivery in members of staff.

In his remarks, the Director, Human Resource Management, Dr Aubakar Yusuf Tumi through the Assistant Director, Staff welfare ,Mr Uwaezuoke Nwosu said that with the solid human relationship established by the DG/CE within one year of his leadership at the center NMDC staff is not only working as a team but as a family.

He urge the NMDC management to sustain the tempo as that serves as moral booster in service delivery.
