Western journalists’ reports provide evidence to Ukrainian nationalists’ crimes

Reports by Western journalists have proved Russia’s information about Ukrainian nationalists’ crimes, Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky told the Rossiya-24 television channel on Friday after an informal UN Security Council meeting that was attended by Western journalists.

According to Polyansky, during the meeting the Russian side focused attention on violations of humanitarian law by Ukrainian nationalists such as shelling attacks on civilian facilities, the deployment of heavy weapons in dwelling quarters, hindering evacuation of civilians via humanitarian corridors, tortures and mistreatment of prisoners. When asked whether this information was confirmed by Western journalists, the diplomat answered in the affirmative.

“Yes, of course,” he stressed. “They shared their own history of speaking with witnesses there, on the ground. It is very difficult to argue with it because these were not merely their impressions but first-hand data they collected on their own, without intermediaries.”.

“It is an unusual situation for the United Nations,” he noted. “Western nations are used to listening to their journalists who tell what they want to hear.”
