Malabu deal: FG seeks arrest of ex-AGF, Adoke
The Federal Government has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to issue a warrant of arrest against former Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN) over alleged fraud in the Malabu deal.
The counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Johnson Ojogbane yesterday informed Justice John Tsoho that the prosecution is finding it difficult to serve a warrant of the criminal charges against Adoke outside the country.
He told the court that a warrant of arrest will make it easier for the security agents to liaise with the International Police (InterPol) to initiate extradition moves.
In his ruling, Justice Tsoho asked Ojogbane to bring a proper application to the court not orally, adding that it would have been proper to issue the arrest warrant if Adoke was already arraigned before the court and was attempting to escape. He however fixed June 13 for arraignment.
Adoke was on December 20 charged on nine-count of fraud and money laundering against Adoke, alongside former Petroleum Minister, Dan Etete; and businessman Aliyu Abubakar.
