Prominent traditional rulers, others due in Kwara for Arowona Abdulazeez’s turbaning as Shettiman Okuta

Journalism icon and publisher of Royal News online newspaper, who doubles as media aide of Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji AbdulAzeez Arowona, is set to be turbaned as Shattiman Okuta by Emir of Okuta Emirate in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The turbaning will take place as part of the celebration of Gaani festival in the Emirate holding precisely on Friday, 5 November, 2021.

The DEFENDER gathered that six prominent Northern Emirs had confirmed their attendance of the Gaani festival and turbaning of new title holders.

In a letter of notification addressed to the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, by the Northern traditional rulers council, signed by the council’s Secretary, Alhaji Aliyu Usara, it was said that the Emir would attend the Jumaat Prayer on Friday November 5, at the Emir’s palace with the Emir of Ilorin.

The statement added that as a mark of honour, the Emir would pay a courtesy visit to the governor of Kwara State before proceeding to Okuta for main event where Alhaji Abdulazeez Arowona would be turnbarned as Shettima of Okuta.

The list of the invited Emirs are His Royal highness Ona of Abaji , Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, Emir of Wase Alhaji Muhammadu Sambo Haruna and the Emir of Damaturu Alhaji Shehu Hashimi II Ibn Umar Al Amin Elkanemi.

Others are the Ohimegye of Koton Karfi Alhaji Abdul Rasaq Gambo Sani Isah Koto, Emir of Azara Alhaji Kabir Musa Ibrahim and Gomo of Kuje Alhaji Haruna Tanko Jibrin.

Meanwhile, sons and daughters of Ilorin Emirate and Kwarans have been urged to troop out en masse to honour the first class traditional rulers.
