BREAKING: Sowore’s trouble soars, as Nigerian Court orders SSS to detain him for 45 days
To elements fuming over arrest by Nigerian authorities of Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, it is now clear Nigeria is a law based society.
This is reaction of a respondent, who spoke to The DEFENDER on Thursdays, to a court order emboldening the country’s State Security Service (SSS) to detain the online media business man, arrested early hours of last Saturday, for plotting to overthrow the government through revolution campaign he tagged “#RevolutionNow”.
Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, to this end, on Thursday granted the Service an application to detain the convener of the #RevolutionNow Protest, Sowore, in its custody for 45 days.
The SSS had earlier asked the court for permission to detain Sowore for 90 days, with the court fixing Thursday to rule on the application.
However, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, in his ruling on Thursday agreed to grant the SSS application, but only for 45 days to detain Sowore.
According to the judge, the 45 days would start counting from today (Thursday).
Operatives of the Service had in the early hours of last Saturday arrested Sowore, who is also the convener of ‘#RevolutionNow’ protests.
Responding, a concerned Nigerian, condemning Sowore for staging a change of government in a country he only recently sought to govern, told this media organisation that the likes of Professor Wole Soyinka and Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), who have thrown their weights behind him in the treason, should be arrested as, according to him, “all that has happened points to conspiracy within Nigeria in collaboration with some sponsored foreign interests”.
