Cheers as Oyo Imperial Majesty’s intervention restores peace in Oyo Muslim Community

A recent disagreement within the Muslim community in Oyo Land has been successfully resolved following intervention of the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdul Hakeem Abimbola Owoade I.
The Director of Media and Publicity to the Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Land, Ibrahim Agunbiade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday June 18, 2026, noting that the monarch’s timely intervention helped restore peace, understanding, and unity among members of the Muslim community.
According to the statement, the Alaafin demonstrated wisdom, fairness, and a strong commitment to communal harmony throughout the reconciliation process, leading to an amicable resolution of the issues that had recently emerged within the Muslim Ummah in Oyo Land.
The Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Land, Sheikh Al-Imam Barrister Bilal Husayn Akinola Akeugberu, expressed appreciation to all elders, Islamic scholars, and stakeholders who played various roles in ensuring a peaceful settlement of the matter.

Reaffirming his commitment to fostering unity among Muslims, Sheikh Akeugberu said the resolution underscores the importance of dialogue, patience, mutual respect, and adherence to Islamic principles in addressing disagreements.
The statement cited Surah Al-Hujurat, Verse 10 of the Holy Qur’an, which states: “The believers are but brothers, so make peace between your brothers and be mindful of Allah that you may receive mercy.”
The Grand Chief Imam further pledged to continue promoting harmony and cooperation among members of the Muslim community and the wider Oyo society.
The Office also offered prayers for the continued success of the Alaafin of Oyo, the growth of the Muslim Ummah, and lasting peace and prosperity in Oyo Land and Nigeria as a whole.
