Robbery suspect shot dead by Ogun Police

The Police in Ogun State says it has shot dead an armed robbery suspect terrorizing motorists at the Ososa Junction, near Ijebu Ode area of Shagamu/Ore Expressway in the state.

Disclosing this in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday by ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER, the police spokesman, who said the incident took place in the early morning of Sunday, explained that the robbery suspect met his waterloo during a gun duel his gang had with the operatives, who arrived the scene of crime following a distress call that a robbery operation was taking place in the area.

He said, “This followed a distress call received by operatives from FSARS that robbers has blocked the express road at about 2:30 am and dispossessing people of their properties.

“Upon the distress call, the officer in charge of FSARS DSP Uba Adam led his men to the scene where the robbers engaged them in gun duel which lasted for about 45 minutes.

“At the end of the encounter, one of the robbers was shot dead while others escaped with gunshot injuries. Two locally made single barrel guns and seventy eight live cartridges were recovered from them.

“The commissioner of police cp Ahmed iliyasu who commended his men for the prompt response to the distress call appealed to members of the public especially hospitals to quickly informed the police if they see  anybody with gunshot wound in their areas.”
