NDC Vice-Presidential Candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Visits De Renaissance Patriots Leaders in Lagos

Are said, “Lagos State is the only state in Nigeria’s 36-state structure where no indigenes have been governor, deputy governor and speaker except Babajide Raji Fashola (SAN), Sarah Sosan and Adeyemi Ikuforuji, throughout the period of the ongoing Fourth Republic.”
A leading Nigerian politician and vice-presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation, a socio-cultural organisation for Lagos State indigenes, in Lagos.
Kwankwaso, who was accompanied by the Lagos Central NDC senatorial candidate for the 2027 election, Barrister Ladipo Johnson; NDC South South leader Bishop Isaac Idahosa and others, were received by a trustee of the group and former Minister of Communications, Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Rtd) and the Group’s President, Mr. Miftah Bolaji Are, among others.
Welcoming the special guest, General Tajudeen Olanrewaju said, “We are a socio-cultural group for the good of our indigenous people of Lagos State and will be interested in wishing all of you success in your political endeavour.”
General Olanrewaju informed Kwankwaso that leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) had also reached out and encouraged the former Kano State governor to ensure that opposition politicians worked together for the better Nigeria “we all desire.”
Also speaking, the President of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation, Mr. Bolaji Are, expressed his delight that a personality of the calibre of Kwankwaso had reached out to the group.

According to the President, “We have been marginalised in these three positions of governor, deputy governor and speaker. So, henceforth, any political party that presents Lagos State indigenes for these three positions shall enjoy our support.”
