Lagos cyclist Ayanfe Olodumare sets sights on Lagos-Benin journey, seeks sponsors

By ADEWALE OMO OLUBO

Over the years, his bicycle has taken him across several challenging routes, including Lagos-Ibadan, Lagos-Osogbo and Lagos-Akure, journeys that have tested his endurance, discipline and determination.

A young Nigerian cyclist, Bakare Oluwasegun, popularly known as Ayanfe Olodumare, has set his sights on another ambitious cycling journey from Lagos to Benin City, Edo State, as he continues to use cycling to challenge himself, inspire young people and promote determination.

Ayanfe Olodumare, who holds a National Diploma in Mass Communication from Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), formerly Lagos Polytechnic, studied between 2019 and 2022.

Beyond his academic background, Ayanfe has developed a strong passion for cycling and has accumulated considerable experience through participation in various cycling events within Lagos State and beyond.

Over the years, his bicycle has taken him across several challenging routes, including Lagos-Ibadan, Lagos-Osogbo and Lagos-Akure, journeys that have tested his endurance, discipline and determination.

His next target is the Lagos-to-Benin City cycling journey, a feat he hopes to undertake with the support of well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organisations, entrepreneurs and individuals who believe in encouraging young people to pursue their dreams.

For Ayanfe, the journey is not simply about covering kilometres on a bicycle. It represents a personal commitment to growth, resilience and the desire to become a better version of himself while creating opportunities to support others.

Speaking about his aspirations, the young cyclist said his ultimate goal is to make meaningful progress in life and reach a position where he can also extend a helping hand to others.

“All I want is to get higher in life. Only God knows the next five years of a human being, but to me, I want to be in a better place where I can finish it easy to assist others too.”

His message reflects the determination of a young Nigerian who is unwilling to allow uncertainty about the future to prevent him from taking steps towards his dreams.

Ayanfe is therefore calling on big companies, entrepreneurs, organisations and individuals to become sponsors or partners of his proposed Lagos-to-Benin cycling expedition.

According to him, support for the journey would not only help him achieve his personal goal but could also serve as motivation for other young Nigerians who are pursuing their dreams despite limited resources.

The proposed expedition also presents an opportunity for brands and organisations interested in youth empowerment, sports, healthy living, endurance challenges and community engagement to associate with a young man whose story is built around determination and perseverance.

As Ayanfe prepares for his next adventure, he hopes that individuals and organisations will see beyond the bicycle and recognise the larger message behind his journey: that with determination, courage and support, young people can push beyond their limitations.
