Sultan Extols Virtues of 9th Emir of Ilorin’s Widow, HRH Halimah Sulu-Gambari

The Sultan joined the sitting Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, who is the chief mourner, as well as members of the Ilorin Emirate and other prominent Nigerians, in mourning the deceased.
The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, has extolled the virtues of Her Highness Halimah Goni Soba Sulu-Gambari, widow of the 9th Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji Zulqarnain Gambari Muhammed, who passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
The Sultan made the remarks as the eighth-day Fidau prayer for the repose of the deceased is being held today, Thursday, August 20, 2026.
In a condolence message, according to a statement issued, signed by Prince Bashir Adefaka on behalf of his Media Team and dated Thursday August 20, 2026, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar described the late royal mother as a woman of remarkable virtues, particularly her humility, charitable disposition and dedication to Islam.

The Sultan joined the sitting Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, who is the chief mourner, as well as members of the Ilorin Emirate and other prominent Nigerians, in mourning the deceased.
He also extended his condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, the entire people of Ilorin Emirate and the bereaved family, urging them to accept the demise as the will of Almighty Allah.
The Sultan said, “Her death marks another loss for the Ilorin Emirate, but we have no choice than to accept the reality, being that the One who owns life is He who has taken it. All we can do now and continuously is to pray that Allah reposes her soul in Al-Jannah Firdaos.”
He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased, grant her eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaos and give the royal family and the entire Ilorin Emirate the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
