N1B BANDITS SETTLEMENT FUND: Present transparent records not attacking El-Rufai – Saminaka

By OUR REPORTER

“If the government is confident there was no ₦1 billion payment, then presenting transparent records should not be a problem. Governance is not about emotions, it is about accountability.”

A concerned Nigerian has cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government and its supporters in Kaduna State and beyond to rather face the issues and stop beating about the bush over the revelation by former Governor of the state, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai that it paid N1 billion to settle bandits instead of trashing the menace using the powers vested in it by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The public affairs analyst, Yusuf Sani Saminaka, who expressed his concern over the development, wondered that attacking the personality of El-Rufai would be the response of the government instead of doing the needful.

“It is important for Kaduna people to separate politics from facts.

“Mallam Nasir El-Rufai raised a serious security concern, and instead of giving clear answers, the current government is attacking his personality.

“The issue is simple:

“If the government is confident there was no ₦1 billion payment, then presenting transparent records should not be a problem. Governance is not about emotions, it is about accountability.

“Let us not forget: El-Rufai was the same leader who insisted that public funds must never be used to empower criminals, no matter the political pressure. His track record on security and infrastructure speaks for itself, and he has never been afraid to ask tough questions when things go wrong.

“Instead of rushing to label his comments as “political,” the government should welcome scrutiny. After all, transparency strengthens democracy, and Kaduna people deserve to know the full truth.

“Giving him “one week” to bring evidence sounds more like an attempt to silence criticism than a genuine search for the facts. If the government is truly innocent, let them open their books and allow independent verification. Simple.

“Kaduna’s progress will not come from trading press statements, but from honest leadership and accountability.

“Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has asked a legitimate question, Kaduna State deserves a legitimate answer,” he said.
