HOMAGE: Nigerian First Lady visits Sultan of Sokoto, describes him as “a symbol of peace and national unity”

Speaking during the visit, Senator Tinubu said she was at the Sultan’s palace to pay homage to him and express her appreciation for his presence at her recent coronation, where she was conferred with a traditional title.
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, at his palace in Sokoto.
The First Lady was accompanied by the Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu, who said the visit was aimed at paying respect to the revered traditional institution and seeking the Sultan’s blessings.
Speaking during the visit, Senator Tinubu said she was at the Sultan’s palace to pay homage to him and express her appreciation for his presence at her recent coronation, where she was conferred with a traditional title.
She described the Sultan as a symbol of peace and a strong advocate for national unity, noting that his commitment to promoting cohesion and harmony continues to inspire Nigerians.
Responding, the Sultan warmly welcomed the First Lady, describing her visit as a homecoming rather than a visit by a guest.
Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar also recalled his longstanding cordial relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and commended the President for his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.
He specifically highlighted the ongoing Illela-Badagry Highway and Sokoto-Zaria Road projects, expressing optimism that the projects would significantly improve transportation, facilitate trade and economic activities, and accelerate development across Northern Nigeria and beyond Sokoto State.
The visit further underscored the importance of collaboration between the Federal Government and traditional institutions in promoting peace, unity and national development.
