2023 PRESIDENCY: Tinubu’s ambition depends on who he aligns with, APC Chieftain, others say

The coast appears to be getting clearer as top members of governing All Progressives Congress (APC) are now coming to discuss 2023 with regard to the ambition of former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be President of Nigeria.

Apart from SWAGA, South West Agenda ’23 for Asiwaju, which stormed the palaces of the Alaafin of Oyo and Olubadan of Ibaan Land, The DEFENDER learned that Speakers of South West also made a storming walk on Ibadan, the former capital of defunct Western Region Thursday to seek support for the candidacy of Tinubu.

These moves are being made barely one year after the government of their party narrowly won a second term and had just settled down for governance, underscoring the accusation that while President Muhammadu Buhari won elections to deliver on good governance, politicians around him, including Tinubu, are concerned only with next election.

To this end, Dr Festus Adedayo’s column in the Nigerian Tribune of Sunday, December 20, 2020, titled ‘Tinubu, Please Run, Run From The SWAGA Gang’ that made interesting and most times amusing reading, among others has sprung up. Adedayo has since been replied with total condemnation trying to run Tinuu down among others.

But lately in a Crystal Facts reports, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC ), Mr. Yekini Nabena, said Bola Tinubu’s chances are dependent on his alliances with party stakeholders from other zones in the country.

He stated this on Thursday during a media interview.

“I don’t know or tell how strong Tinubu’s chances are because politics is all about alliance.

“It depends on who he is aligning with and his alibi. A tree cannot make a forest, you can be strong in a particular state but what about others?

“However, politics is all about numbers, so I can’t say much about anybody’s chances. No matter the zone you are from you still need to work with other zones because it’s the people that will count,” Yekini Nabena said.

Other sources however admired that Tinubu’s major challenges are in Kayode Fayemu, who his supporters hate with passion, and Rotimi Amaechi, the man believed to have been part of the great achievements of Buhari Administration since 2015 till date and who is believed “Lion of the Niger Delta” and unifying factor between the South East and the South South.

They are of the opinion that Tinubu would do better as father in the party than attempting project that will make him lose in two: presidency 2023 and relivance.
