Zonal Public Hearing: Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara want LG autonomy

*Want status quo on resource control

The need for granting special autonomy to the local governments being closer to the people has been emphasized.

This was the position of Sokoto State people as presented at the just concluded zonal public hearing on True Federalism, organised by All Progressives Congress (APC), covering Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, held in Sokoto on Friday.

The bill was presented by the former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo, who added.

Also considered at the meeting was the need for the creation of independent candidacy to sustain the democratic values.

According to him the issue of resource control should be under the Federal Government while local government commissions and ministries for agriculture, power sharing and federal character should be sustained.
