Zamfara Police averts major crisis, arrests 18 suspects over unlawful assembly, disturbance of peace

The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested 18 suspects for what it claims to be their involvement in organising and partaking in unlawful assembly, illicit demonstration thereby causing damages to public and private property.
Their arrest, according to a statement, followed the suspects committing the act in Shinkafi Local Government Area of the state.
In the statement signed by the state’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Mohammed Shehu, a Superintendent of Police, the suspects, allegedly sponsored to undermine the relative peace of the area, were arrested while demonstrating carrying dane guns, cutlasses and sticks and advancing towards the palace of the Emir of Shinkafi.
The state police spokesman said all the suspects were now in custody undergoing interrogation.
In the meantime, the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to commence investigation into the unlawful protest with a view to unraveling the circumstances behind the dastardly act.
