Zamfara Gov approves release of N100m for WAEC 2021

The Governor of Zamfara State, Hon. Mohammed Bello Matawalle, has approved the release of N100 million to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), as payment to enable students in the state write 2021 examination.

The payment of the smount is part of the present administration’s obligation to WAEC in favour of Zamfara State indigenes for this year.

The governor, according to our Correspondent, expressed appreciation of his administration to the Honourable Minister of Education and WAEC Secretariat for their understanding and concern for the development of
education in the state, despite the huge backlogs owed WAEC by the State Government inherited from the past administration.

Governor Matawalle noted with satisfaction the support of the Federal Ministry of Education to the state government, pointing out that, the ministry had supported the state by giving all the required considerations to the teaming candidates of Zamfara State for WAEC, not only to release their results, but also allow them to sit for subsequent examinations despite non payment of the required fees.

He said his administration will continue to meet its obligations as part of measures to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people, especially the young generation through the provision of sound education.

Accordingly, the governor reiterated that education, being the catalyst for achieving greatness, is recieving topmost priority by the present administration, which he noted was why the state government immediately released the payment of N100 million to WAEC.

The effort will certainly give a peace of mind to many candidates and parents in the state, he added in a press release signed by the Press Secretary Jamilu Iliyasu Birnin Magaji.
