The Living Faith Church Worldwide, Ota, Ogun State held Sunday services March 22, 2020 despite nation’s authorities’ order shutting down such public gathering of over 50 persons, which was arrived at after days of consultation.

This attitude generated anger of many Nigerians particularly fellow Christians who stormed the social media to register their dissatisfaction with Oyedepo’s disrespect for the authorities of the country, saying there was no way he could hide behind religion to be that rude to State.

It was gathered that Bishop David Oyedepo held a ‘physical’ service on the said date where thousands of worshipers gathered in the church auditorium, sang and prayed to God to stop the plague of the coronavirus in Nigeria and other countries of the world.

Oyedepo led the congregation in prayers preceding his sermon titled “Winning the war against coronavirus”.

He said, “According to how we have prayed, the siege is over. The same way Ebola went away, this is going away. The same God that helped us that time is still alive, he will help us again.”

The church had, in a memo dated March 20 and written by its First Vice President, Bishop David Abioye, asked branches of the church all over the world to comply with restriction orders in their locations.
