Wike’s judicial commission laughable — Peterside

“Here is a governor who told Rivers people not to attend an investigative panel set up by Police to probe issues surrounding the re-election.  The same governor has now set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to probe issues surrounding the election and he expects Rivers people to obey him.”

Dr. Dakuku Peterside, Rivers APC governorship candidate in the 2015 general elections, says the constitution of Judicial Commission of Inquiry on alleged electoral violence by Governor Nyesom Wike is laughable.

Peterside stated this in a statement released in Port Harcourt in reaction to plans by Wike to investigate alleged electoral violence during the December 10 re-run elections in Rivers State.

He described the action of Wike like the proverbial witch who cried a previous night and the child dies the following day, adding that such amounted to ridiculing the exalted office of the governor.

“Here is a governor who told Rivers people not to attend an investigative panel set up by Police to probe issues surrounding the re-election.

“The same governor has now set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to probe issues surrounding the election and he expects Rivers people to obey him.

“How can such a governor call Rivers people not to obey police investigation but expect them to obey his own judicial commission?, he asked.

“So, what goal is the governor seeking to achieve with his own panel of inquiry, to exonerate PDP members and pronounce APC members guilty.”

Peterside, who is also the Director-General of NIMASA, said that Wike remained an accused in the election matter adding that he could not therefore set up an investigative panel.

“I call on the Justice Chinwendu Nwogu-led panel to be very careful not to be used to achieve a dubious end.”

  1. Somebody said it was disheartening that DSS accusing this Governor Wike of sponsoring Abuja protest has become an agent of APC simply because it is doing its job, then what did you say about killing of police officers and others and Wike celebrated. He even told lies against an APC chieftain that is already in police custody but because IGP now set up investigative panel to investigate and serious punish whoever was responsible for the violence, Wike declared that his government would not cooperate with the panel. More ridiculously, he now set up his own panel to investigate the same election violence he said he would not cooperate with any attempt to investigate. How can Wike, whose voice is loudly heard and confirmed too, on tape to have masterminded the killings at the rerun, now say he will be the one to investigate the killings. Is it Wike that is far from sense or the entire people of Rivers or that person that so said? We want to know. So, like Arc_Deji_Alabi said on ThisDAY, Wike should defend the phone conversation audio released and stop using diversionary tactics because, we all are watching and sure that the governor cannot escape the punishment for his atrocities hiding under immunity. DSS should do the needful and effect stripping him of his immunity and get him arrested for treason. That is the way to go.
