What could’ve happened if Israel successfully dragged us into war with Iran – Saudi’s Ex-intelligence Chief

According to Prince Turki, such a scenario could have allowed Israel to consolidate unprecedented influence across the Middle East and emerge as the dominant power surrounding the Arab world.

Former Saudi intelligence chief Prince Turki Al-Faisal has warned that any attempt to draw Saudi Arabia into direct conflict with Iran could have plunged the Middle East into devastating regional war and widespread destruction.

Speaking on regional tensions and the risks of escalation, Prince Turki said Saudi Arabia avoided becoming entangled in what he described as a conflict that did not serve the kingdom’s national interests.

“We would have lost thousands of young men in a war that was never ours,” he stated, warning that a direct confrontation between Saudi Arabia and Iran could have triggered catastrophic consequences across the region.

The former intelligence chief also argued that prolonged regional warfare would ultimately have benefited Israel strategically by weakening surrounding Arab states and reshaping the regional balance of power.

According to Prince Turki, such a scenario could have allowed Israel to consolidate unprecedented influence across the Middle East and emerge as the dominant power surrounding the Arab world.

His remarks come amid ongoing geopolitical tensions involving Iran, Israel, and several Gulf states, as concerns continue to grow over the possibility of broader regional escalation following years of proxy conflicts, military confrontations, and nuclear-related disputes.

Prince Turki’s comments reflect wider concerns among some Arab political figures that a large-scale regional war could destabilize the Middle East for decades, deepen sectarian divisions, and dramatically alter the region’s political and security landscape.
