WAKE UP: PDP and the Amina Zakari imbroglio
By BASHIR ADEFAKA
“Finally, if therefore you believe that President that rules Nigeria now is Jibrin Sudani from Sudan and that is a major campaign tool you carry around as a people wanting to convince Nigerians why they should vote you back to power and you lack the guts to even institute court suit to remove him and provide the corpse of the real President Buhari who you believe died since 2017 in the United Kingdom and you want Nigerians to take you seriously, you now say Amina Zakari is President Muhammadu Buhari’s cousin, from what part of your brain system are you therefore talking? Because, if the medullar oblongata is the part of the brain or somewhere else that you are bringing all of these “wisdoms” from, you should know that “Yes, Amina Zakari is cousin of President Muhammadu Buhari but the President we have currently is Jibrin Sudani and not the Muhammadu Buhari that is related to Zakari the INEC commissioner”.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since over 48 hours ago that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released list of 2019 elections committee has been loud over the appointment of a National Commissioner of the electoral umpire as Chairperson of the Collation Committee.
The PDP was quick to single out the woman as a matter of seriousness saying her appointment will not deepen the nation’s democracy due to her being a cousin of the sitting President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.
First of the questions that I have decided to ask is: Since when did distrust of Zakari begin to occur to leaders, members and sympathizers of this opposition party? I recall that the woman into the INEC not just now. She was appointed during the era of the opposition party in power and it was National Assembly dominated and controlled by them that approved her national commissionership of the INEC.
Yes, her name began to ring beg particularly from the Kogi State inconclusive governorship election due to death of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Alhaji Abubakar Audu, in one of the solo-governorship elections to be conducted by INEC under the Muhammadu Buhari-led APC Federal Government.
But, it will also be recalled that those who made Zakari’s name that loud were PDP people and it was because their candidate and incumbent Captain Idris Wada could not emerge winner at the election. Recall that until Audu’s death, APC’s coasting to victory was clearly not in doubt. But because of the controversy that ensued within the broom-party over whether James Faleke as running make of the late candidate should be allowed to emerge or that APC should field a fresh candidate, the PDP politicians, incredibly, found their way into the controversy believing that APC would fail the test of time and the pendulum would fall in their side.
They then went to court seeking all manner of injunctions to declare their candidate (Idris Wada) as winner, which the judiciary refused to grant. In the end, the APC resolved their issues and arrived at fielding the man who came second in primaries to Abubakar Audu, who was Yahaya Bello, a lawyer. That was how the Kogi governorship election was resolved against the anticipation of the PDP.
But instead for the politicians, who were already clearly swept out of power by the election, to accept defeat with honour, they began to shout the name of Amina Zakari. I stand to be corrected if I am wrong. That was the first time I, as a person, started hearing about the vitality of the name called Amina Zakari.
Another question therefore is, what did Zakari do in Kogi to make PDP scream? We continued to have silence of graveyard to questions in that regard from the opposition camp but when the spirit brings it to their minds again, they still scream forgetting that they have unanswered questions on ground which, if they remember, would have made it impossible for them to scream.
Then the next question: Having failed to provide answers to all the questions, one would therefore be right to say that PDP knew who Amina Zakari is and what she was positioned in INEC to do for them at elections when they appointed her in the first place before President Muhammadu Buhari retained her. No one should forget in a hurry the allegations by Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) members, whose Board of Trustees Chairman Col. Hameed Ali is, and other APC members against President Buhari for allowing PDP members or appointees to remain in his government.
This latest opposition to INEC election committee chairmanship of Zakari, an existing INEC official, would therefore confirm our doubts that PDP had used some INEC appointees in the past to disenfranchise Nigerian electorates but that, with such people in vantage position in INEC, they are now afraid that the sword they used in beheading opposition during their own reigns will now be used against them. That, they do not want to happen else, there is no point for the noise we are hearing.
Just before I stop, with the level of people on the leadership of the PDP who are in the range of legal practitioners and administrators of note, it is not expected that they will find themselves in situation where they talk first before they think. The last time you said the man we call our President today, Muhammadu Buhari, is an impostor you call Jibrin Al-Sudani. Yet that Jibrin of Sudan has been able to recognize and recall without being told, during the presentation of Kwara State APC governorship candidate Abdulrahman Abdulrazak to him in the State House Abuja, why he will continue to love Kwara State as state of his former second-in-command the late Chief of Staff Supreme Headquarters General Tunde Idiagbon and propounders of this Jibrin Sudani theory would never be done.
What they lack is appreciating the divine ability of Almighty God to heal the sick even against the expectation of the affected. They saw that President Buhari’s case was beyond comprehension as, according to them, there was no way he could escape the poison that was administered on him but he escaped same; miraculously though. Most of these people who are into the Jibrin Sudani theory are believers in miracle of God. But when that miracle of God comes to bear on President Muhammadu Buhari, who from ill health and weakness caused by the impact of the poison emerged not only healthier but also waxed stronger than most of them who had advertised his obituary and wished him death, they failed in faith hence the Jibrin Sudani theory.
Finally, if therefore you believe that President that rules Nigeria now is Jibrin Sudani from Sudan and that is a major campaign tool you carry around as a people wanting to convince Nigerians why they should vote you back to power and you lack the guts to even institute court suit to remove him and provide the corpse of the real President Buhari who you believe died since 2017 in the United Kingdom and you want Nigerians to take you seriously, you now say Amina Zakari is President Muhammadu Buhari’s cousin, from what part of your brain system are you therefore talking? Because, if the medullar oblongata is the part of the brain or somewhere else that you are bringing all of these “wisdoms” from, you should know that “Yes, Amina Zakari is cousin of President Muhammadu Buhari but the President we have currently is Jibrin Sudani and not the Muhammadu Buhari that is related to Zakari the INEC commissioner”.
