Video: Why FG must monitor Amnesty International, Atiku’s activities, Miyetti Allah speaks, as it blames Obasanjo for plotting to bring ex-VP back as President

*Wants Atiku stripped of Wazirin Adamawa

*Says Adamawa title not for caller to Fulani genocide

On Thursday January 3, 2019, the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore expressed dismay that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is leading the coalition to bring Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, his former Vice, back to power as President.Leadership of the group in an address read by National Secretary of the organisation, Alhaji Saleh Al-Hassan, made this known during the videoed press conference held in Abuja. The DEFENDER’s revisit of the Miyetti Allah was informed by popular demand by members of the public to investigate allegations against opposition politicians to ascertain if the Federal Government was merely using propaganda to gag them or not.In the course of our investigations, stumbled over the video where Miyetti Allah laid the serious allegations against Amnesty International and some politicians suspected to have hijacked its activities. It will be recalled that the government had accused the opposition of plotting to use Boko Haram and mercenaries from Niger Republic to disrupt the February 16, 2019 presidential election so that there will be excuse for no-election situation thereby making Interim National Government (ING) possible.Although the main opposition, PDP, has said it does not need an ING but a 16-page letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, accused by Miyetti Allah at the Thursday 3 January 2019 press conference in Abuja of plotting to bring his former vice president it said he foisted on Nigeria back as president, necessitated that more light is required to be shed on the issues. That Obasanjo is leader of the coalition working “desperately” to unseat President Muhammadu Buhari by taking the seat of power from the progressives and hand it back to the elites now led by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Presidential Candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.  Video of the Miyetti Allah’s press conference thus came handy. The herders’ address, centred on communiqué of the organisation condemning the Amnesty International report titled, “Harvest of death: Three years of bloody clashes between farmers and herders”, said Atiku was exploiting what he called biased and unfortunate report of the Amnesty International to score political capital.

In the report released in December last year, titled, ‘Harvest of death: Three years of bloody clashes between farmers and herders,’ Amnesty International said the clashes claimed 3,641 lives in the past three years and accused the government of failing to bring the perpetrators to justice, an allegation the Federal Government refuted.

Atiku reacted to the report, saying President Muhammadu Buhari administration had failed to protect the people.  But the herders’ group described the Atiku’s reaction as “a naked dance in the market place.”

The Miyetti Allah said the rights organization’s report was collated in haste as, according to the herders group chief scribe, it was quick to dismiss efforts of the security agencies in ending the farmers, herders conflicts in the country. The group said the attitude suggested that Amnesty International activities in Nigeria had been hijacked by machineries and mercantile characters sponsored by forces wanting to balkanize the Nigerian State.“It is on record that our organisation has collaborated with the security agencies in finding solution to the farmers/herders’ conflicts.  Hence we are calling on the Nigerian Government to closely monitor the activities of Amnesty International in Nigeria, particularly their sources of funding,” he said.Worst, Al-Hassan said, is what he called desperation of “politicians particularly Alhaji Atiku Abubakar”, the Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who he said was exploiting the “biased” Amnesty International report to call for genocide against Fulani herders.

“Our organisation the Miyetti Allah was invited by Amnesty International at the presentation of a report they did on the clashes between farmers and herders titled, “Harvest of deaths: Three years of bloody clashes between farmers and herders”.

“After an emergency meeting of our organisation we went through the report and here and here are the resolutions from what we saw in that report:

“One, after a thorough review of the Amnesty International report on the conflicts between farmers and herders, we have found out that substantial part of the report is not only false and unsubstantiated statement, but also written to satisfy their paymasters and further stoke the conflicts.

“Amnesty International hired researchers did not deem it fit to interview the leadership of the herders and families of the herders from most of the communities with the conflicts they claimed to have visited.

“Consequently we condemn such selective and highly biased and unpatriotic act from the Amnesty International in Nigeria.

“From the hasty conclusion of the report, which was quick to dismiss efforts of the security agencies in ending the conflicts, suggested clearly that Amnesty International activities in Nigeria have been hijacked by machineries and mercantile characters that have sponsored by forces that want to balkanize the Nigerian State.

Closely monitor Amnesty International

“It is on record that our organisation has collaborated with the security agencies in finding solution to the farmers/herders’ conflicts.  Hence we are calling on the Nigerian Government to closely monitor the activities of Amnesty International in Nigeria, particularly their sources of funding.

“Consequently as a result of this report, desperate politicians, particularly Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the leading opposition is lashing on this false Amnesty report with the hope of garnering political capital from the farmers/herders’ conflicts and the plight of the Nigerian pastorants.

“So, we call on our members and peace loving Nigerians, not only to condemn Atiku Abubakar for the self hate and naked dance in the market place but also to totally reject him as a Presidential Candidate as his intention is inimical to the development, peaceful coexistence in the country.

“We blame former President Olusegun Obasanjo for hoisting a shadowy character like Atiku Abubakar as Vice President on the nation and now trying desperately to bring him back as President.

“We are equally calling on His Royal Highness Lamido Adamawa to strip Atiku Abubakar from his title of Waziri Adamawa for his open hatred for the Fulani pastorants and surrounding himself with ethnic, irredentist and hate speech merchants that have been profiling the Fulani Race and calling for their genocide.

“The title of Waziri in Adamawa should be reserved for only Fulani sons with track record of helping and protecting the Fulani Race and not shadowy character with conflicting identity.

“We are consequently directing all our members nationwide and other Fulani groups to embark on massive campaign against the Presidential aspiration of Atiku Abubakar because, he does not mean well for the pastorants and the country at large.

“Finally, we appeal to His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari to instruct the security agencies to monitor Atiku Abubakar, considering his hostile and inciting statements he makes against the herders.  His statements as a presidential candidate is capable of distabilising the country, especially considering that he is currently surrounded by anarchists and hate speech merchants feeding on the lucrative industry of Fake News and ethnic irredentists.

“Our sister organisation the Cattle Breeders endorse His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari and I believe it was a right decision.  For us also, we cannot shy away from supporting a more credible candidate.  And in the era where we are fighting corruption, we cannot reinforce corruption by supporting a perceived corrupt candidate.

“So, absolutely, our organisation is in total support of Mr. President to continue to do the good work he is doing in the country,” Miyetti Allah said.
