A cheering information reaching us at The DEFENDER says the Managing Director of Nigeria’s Bank of Agriculture (BoA), Alhaji Alwan Ali-Hassan, who was among passengers declared missing following the terrorist attack on an Abuja-Kaduna train nine days ago, has regained freedom from his abductors.

Al-Hassan was on Monday March 28, 2022 whisked away while bandits, who attacked the 1000-seat train with 970 passengers on board, fled as a result of superior firepower of troops of One Division Nigerian Army supported by mobile policemen attached to the train.

It will be recalled that the bandits bombed the train, which took off from Idu Station in Abuja on the ill-fated day.

According to a media report Wednesday, a senior official at the BoA confirmed that the MD, Alhaji Alwan Al-Hassan, regained his freedom on Wednesday April 6, 2022.

The official, who did not specify if any ransom was paid to his abductors, said family and friends of the bank’s managing director were grateful to God for his release alive.

He said: “We are grateful to God for his release and we pray never to witness this. We also pray others get released soon”.

The DEFENDER reports that tension rose within the family and BoA  communities on Tuesday when news broke about 14 of 21 abducted passengers of the ill-fated train without Alhaji Ali-Hassan among. The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) said Monday that the passengers have been found alive.

It will be recalled that the 1000-seat train was actually confirmed to have lifted 970 passengers among which only 362 were validated and who were on board the attacked AK9 train service.
