Tenure Elongation: Oyegun inaugurates 10-man Technical Committee led by Plateau Governor Lalong to examine President’s position
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, on Tuesday inaugurated the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) Technical Committee to examine the position of President Muhammadu Buhari on the tenure of Party Executives vis-a-vis NEC’s resolution of February 27th, 2018.
President Buhari had recently declared tenure elongation for the governing party’s NEC illegal thereby attracting several mixed reactions.
Where the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s camp described the President’s position giant stride in time to save the party from cracking, the APC said its earlier resolution subsisted as, according to a comment credited to the Publicity Secretary Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, the President would have only one vote while the onus to decide on the matter falls on the party.
In a release by Edegbe Odemwingie, Assistant Director Publicity of the APC, copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER on Tuesday, other members of the 10-member Technical Committee are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Barr. Boss Mustapha, Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Ondo State, Olurotimi Akeredolu (SAN), Senator Ben Uwajumogu, Hon. Kabiru Ajana, Barr. Elisha Kurah (SAN), Barr. C.J.N. Dakas (SAN) and the APC National Legal Adviser, Dr. Muiz Banire (SAN) as Member/Secretary of the committee.
