President Muhammadu Buhari and his handlers have been given assurance of unflinching support before, during and post-2019 general elections as they are said to be on course in what they are doing for the country.

Giving this assurance Monday night in Sango-Ijoko Local Council Development Area of Ogun State was a Concerned Citizens Group, during its latest meeting, which was mainly to review its activities and make its final position on 2019 politics and who to support.

The group, which had been played role in supporting the Buhari’s administration through quality advice it offered via exclusive media report in The DEFENDER, spoke in reaction to its reported frustrations recently titled, “PUBLIC NOTICE: Blackmaking The DEFENDER as APC, Buhari anti-PDP/Atiku/Saraki newspaper: Our response”.

At the meeting, presided over by an economist and businessman, Mr. Wale Ogunyemi, the Concerned Citizens Group boosted the morale of the online media team encouraging them not to be derailed by pressures which, according to it, is not unexpected in situation where the few elites claiming to be the “Owners of Nigeria” against the generality of the people would do everything possible to weaken such media which they consider to be pro-government, whereas, they said, “in truth, you are pro-Nigeria not pro-anything else”.

Also speaking, another member who attended the meeting, Mr. Doyin Fusika, complained: “We knew that before you were focused about your handing of President Muhammadu Buhari’s report even when bigger media failed to do it rightly.  But we observe lately that you are derailing.  Why?”

Fusika, a former security operative, said: “You do not need to be derailed.  We can understand your situation.  But you should be rest assured that your problem is not a serious one since it is not authorities you are fighting against but fighting against those who do not want Nigeria to move forward just for their own selfish good.

“Be rest assured that you are the only media that trust these days and you should not join those who have compromised.”

Concluding the group resolved: “That we will continue to hold The DEFENDER our official medium for suggesting quality advice to the Buhari’s government as per who the enemies are and what should be done to rescue Nigeria from the grips of the few.

“That Muhammadu Buhari and his media aides particularly Mr. Femi Adesina and Mallam Garba Shehu have done we and are on course, despite attempts by agents of the dark group of wailers who would stop at nothing in bringing down everybody around the President in order to get at him.

“That we have not only passed vote of confidence on Buhari as a performer but also we are making it known that he is whom we shall cast our votes and mobilize votes for in less than 50 from now like we did in the build up to March 28, 2015.

“That we have also passed vote of confidence on The DEFENDER that, against the blackmail of its being APC, Buhari or government’s paper, it is doing well as no other way a patriotic media organization can the country better without helping project the aims, aspirations, programmes and achievements of government of its country of operation,” the group resolved.

The Concerned Citizens Group consists of people from diverse backgrounds including security, journalism and economics and have made useful contributions to the government through The DEFENDER newspaper, which they adopted as their official, trusted means of reaching out to the Regime of Change they helped install through prayers, financial contributions, grassroots mobilisation and votes.
