The Sultan called on elders to caution their youths.  “If you see your son misbehaving and you decide to keep quiet, it means you are supporting him because no father wants to see his son going astray without doing anything,” he stated.   He described all the agitations as unnecessary diversion, wondering why some few people want to hold the entire country to ransome. The Sultan called on those who felt short changed or maginalized to also look at other people.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has emphasized dialogue as key factor in resolving issues bedeviling the nation even as he maintains that no matter what has happened  Nigerians would remain one big family.

“No matter what anybody can say, no matter what is happening, we are still one big family,” he stated while expressing optimism that Nigeria would remain as one indivisible entity despite all the agitations and counter agitations currently renting the air.

He stated this while hosting leaders of resident communities, heads of security agencies, civil society groups and media practitioners to a Ramadan break fast dinner at his palace.

“Let’s sit down, discuss these issues. So that together we can find out what really went wrong. Let us retrace our step and see where we started getting things wrong so that we can find the way of sorting things out. It is a simple thing because we are all eager to live in peace, united and to have a morally upright country based on justice, equity and above all fear of God,”  he stated.

The royal father said: “I am totally disappointed over what is happening. I like challenges and we are in a challenging period and we will take it up. We will continue preaching love, impartiality, respect and unity in the country.”
He urged Nigerians to shun suspicion and respect one another, pointing out that suspicion always breeds enmity and disunity.

The Sultan called on elders to caution their youths.  “If you see your son misbehaving and you decide to keep quiet, it means you are supporting him because no father wants to see his son going astray without doing anything,” he stated.

He admitted that “we are in a challenging time” but stressed that violent had never solved any problem in the world.

According to him, “God  never made a mistake for creating us as Nigerians”, adding that as men of faith Nigerians should accept that and live in peace with one another.

He described all the agitations as unnecessary diversion, wondering why some few people want to hold the entire country to ransom.

The Sultan called on those who felt short changed or maginalized to also look at other people.

“We don’t have to resort to uncomplimentary remarks or violence to make our demands heard because insecurity doesn’t help anybody. No violence pays anybody or resolve any problem, “he asserted.

He added: “We should stop looking down on others unless we want to lift them up. We should understand ourselves and respect one another.”

Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar  also spoke against removing history and religious studies from the curriculum, saying “we threw away history at our detriment.”

” We should never forget our history. I don’t know why the government decided to remove them from our curriculum which is very wrong . we want them back,” he averred

He also cautioned against associating religion or tribe with any act of violence, saying criminals should be identified by their acts not by their religion or tribes.
