Sultan describes death of Baba Adinni of Lagos as colossal loss

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), who received with shock news of the death of one of Nigeria’s most valuable leaders and scholars of Islamic studies and law, Sheikh Abdul Afeez Ashamu Abou, has described his passing as colossal loss.

In his word on Thursday, the Sultan who has mourned the late scholar since news of his death broke out on Wednesday, said his death – though at age of 101 – is one that is painful to the entire Muslim Ummah of Nigeria.

“We have lost a great leader, very effective and efficient Islamic scholar in Nigeria, who played his role well in the service of Allah and humanity especially in the South West of the country.

“My condolence goes to the Executive Committee of Lagos Central Mosque, which he served as Chairman till death, the entire Lagos State Muslim Council and family of the late Sheikh Abdul Afeez Abou.

“May Allah forgive his sins and admit him in Al-Jannah Firdaus, amiin,” the Sultan prayed.

The DEFENDER reports that Sheikh Abdul Afeez Abou died in his Lagos residence on Tuesday January 9, 2024 after clocking exactly 101 years and was buried at Abari Cemetery, Lagos Island on Wednesday January 10 in accordance with Islamic rites.
