Although he has since then been under some bail conditions including ban from address public gathering and press, Sowore has resorted to social media using it as tool to curse and insult leadership, officers of government and security agencies particularly the Department of State Services (DSS) with no disdain.
Publisher of Sahara Reporters, an online newspaper, who lost by indiscribable margin in his bid to democratically unseat President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election, has announced that #ENDSARS protests are being planned to relaunch in Abuja, the nation’s capital on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.
Sowore in August 2019 staged a nationwide revolutionary protest under his #RevolutionNow movement for the change of government formed from an election he lost and was accused by many of wanting to enter Nigeria’s presidency, under the claim of youth representative, through the back door after failing to make it through open front door.
For the offence described by many lawyers as treason and punishable by death if guilty, he was arrested in same August and got released from custody on December 31 on the ground, according to Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mallam Abubakar Malami (SAN), of magnanimity of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Although he has since then been under some bail conditions including ban from address public gathering and press, Sowore has resorted to social media using it as tool to curse and insult leadership, officers of government and security agencies particularly the Department of State Services (DSS) with no disdain.
Offence of those he has called out on the social media, we gathered, were found out to be that he was not allowed to continue with local and foreign conspirators-backed destabilization of the country and therefrom overthrow a government installed through democratic means by Nigerian people.
Omoyele Sowore, who was recently condemned and rejected for attempting to reign supreme as leading light in and replace recent #ENDSARS protests with the #RevolutionNow protest for which he remains under trial, made the announcement on his Facebook timeline of a relaunch of the protests that set Lagos and most part of the South East about 10 years backward, socio-economically.
It will be recalled that #ENDSARS initiator, Adeyanju, had long announced his pullout from the protests after President Buhari granted five demands of the movement including disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), which signposted the end of #ENDSARS movement. He, however, dissociated himself from whatever happened thenceafter, saying it was handiwork of hijackers, whose bank accounts are now frozen by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on the order of court.
Sowore said, “#Endsars Abuja team planning to relaunch the struggle for liberation on November 18 2020, it is a generational responsibility! @MBuhari regime cannot keep Nigerian youths in the cage forever! #RevolutionNow”
Lampooning officers of government and security agencies he said:
“THEY MET LAST WEEK – NSA, DIA, DSS, POLICE, CBN (Yes, Emefiele), COS (Yes, Ibrahim Gambari) THEY SAID IF I DON’T STOP TALKING THEY SHOULD KILL ME!
ME: IF I STOP TALKING AND FIGHTING FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE, THEN I MIGHT AS WELL BE CONSIDERED DEAD! #RevolutionNow.” He posted on his wall on Wednesday.
