Following the resolution, the Obidient Group is now well positioned to mobilize its members across LP, PDP, APC, NNPP to henceforth switch their allegiance to ADC and submit themselves to its rules and fundamental principles.
The South West Obidient Network (SWON) has resolved to support the leadership of newly adopted opposition coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The group disclosed this via a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting held on Friday 11th July, 2025 in Ikeja, Lagos, signed by its Coordinator, Dr Adebayo Akorede, copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER.
Following the resolution, the Obidient Group is now well positioned to mobilize its members across LP, PDP, APC, NNPP to henceforth switch their allegiance to ADC and submit themselves to its rules and fundamental principles.
In the 11-point resolution, Akorede said, “After thorough review of the political situations in the country and our coalition party (ADC), The South West Obidient Network hereby resolves as follow:
“We resolved to continue to support the leadership of the ADC and passed a vote of confidence on them, alongside the 36 state Chairmen including the FCT.
“The network also resolved to continue to mobilize all members of the Obidient Network across all party lines which include the LP, PDP, APC, NNPP and ADC. We reaffirm our commitment to the unity of purpose and unanimously agreed to subject ourselves to the rules of the party (ADC) and its fundamental principles.
“The Network also vehemently opposed the attempts of the ruling party to suppress the opposition parties in the country thereby pushing the country towards a one party system. Any attempt to polarize our newly adopted party will be resisted and any identified mole will be given an unfriendly treatment.
“We also agreed to continue our mobilization drive which we have set in motion across all the South West states. It is our intention to galvanize 2m votes for the ADC in the 2027 general election
“We resolved to support any transparent primary that will produce the presidential candidate for the ADC in the 2027 election. We implore the party leadership not to allow its decisions to be influenced by any social media agitation which is widely influenced by the APC which possesses the most potent media network in Nigeria. The leadership is trusted enough to take decisions that are fair to all for justice and equity
“The Network also firmly resolved that the party should focus more on capacity, experience and resilience as one of the core values that the Presidential candidate of the ADC in 2027 must possess before arriving at presenting such presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
“We also resolved to direct all our members to unite behind all candidates of the opposition candidates in the Lagos LG election slated for 12th July 2025.
“We also demand the immediate reinstatement of the Rivers State Governor and release of the withheld Osun State LG funds. It is agreed that the APC led government is doing a lot of disservice to our democracy by suppressing our democratic values. Democracy must guarantee freedom and fair play and state powers should not be seen as a tool of oppression but liberation.
“We also implored the Federal Government to review some of its anti people policies to make life easier for Nigerians. They must as a matter of urgency reduce import duties, reduce PAYE, reduce interest rate and the cost of energy. If these are done, it will most certainly reduce the cost of living of Nigerians thereby making life more bearable and affordable.
“After thorough deliberation which generated alot of arguments amongst our leadership, The Obidient Network unanimously urged the National leadership of the party to focus its searchlight on either the North East or North West part of the country for its Presidential candidate in 2027 and narrow down its choice for the Vice Presidential Candidate to the South East or South South part of the country.
“The Network also urgent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prioritize the welfare of Nigeria by addressing the hunger in the land rather than playing politics with everything and anything at slightest opportunity.”
