South West Fulani Chiefs hail Tinubu, Makinde, security agencies over rescue of abducted schoolchildren, teachers

The Council urged Nigerians, particularly residents of the South West, to promote messages of peace, unity, and mutual understanding while rejecting every form of ethnic profiling, division, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities capable of undermining security and peaceful coexistence across the region.
The Council of Fulani Chiefs in South West Nigeria, under the leadership of its Chairman and Sarki Fulani of Lagos, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Mohammed Abubakar Bambado II, has expressed profound joy over the successful rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a statement issued by its Media Office dated Friday July 10, 2026, the Council commended the security agencies for their professionalism, resilience, and unwavering commitment, which culminated in the safe rescue of the victims without any loss of life despite the period they spent in captivity.
The Council noted that the successful operation reflects the dedication, competence, and effective coordination of Nigeria’s security architecture, as well as the commitment of both the Federal Government under President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Oyo State Government led by Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde to safeguarding the lives and welfare of citizens.

According to the statement, “As resident communities, we shall continue to cooperate with government and security agencies in all peace-building initiatives and security efforts aimed at protecting lives and property across our towns, villages, and forests. Together, we can build a safer, more peaceful, and prosperous South West and Nigeria as a whole.”
The Council expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde, the Service Chiefs, and the heads of the nation’s security and intelligence agencies for responding to the calls of well-meaning Nigerians, including the Fulani leadership, for the prompt rescue of the abducted pupils and their teachers.
It further prayed for lasting peace, harmony, and sustainable development across Nigeria, expressing hope that insecurity would soon become a thing of the past.
