The Sokoto State Commissioner for Homes Affairs, Abdulkadir Jeli Abubakar III, is dead.

He died evening of Thursday 14 January 2021, after a protracted illness.

The deceased, who was survived by two wives and many children, had been buried according to Islamic rites.

Late Abdulkadir, a younger brother to Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, was a former Commissioner for information during Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s first tenure.

Details of his death are still sketchy, as there is no official statement from the Sokoto State Government to the effect, although, being predominantly Islamic society, the state and family would have accepted the fate that only Allah who gave the late Commissioner took him back.

In the meantime, the Attah of Aiyede, Oba Alhaji Abdulmumini Adebayo Orishagbemi, and President of The DEFENDER, AIG Mu’azu Idris Hadejia, have both sent their condolences to the Sokoto Royalty led by Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar and the Sokoto State Government of Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, over what they separately described as painful death of the prince of the Caliphate.
